Simon Cowell and Jada Pinkett-Smith Team Up For DJ Reality Show Search

by on January 25, 2012

We’ve seen a new movement in the music industry where DJ’s are getting artist credit for songs they help produce. DJ’s such as DJ Khaled, Calvin Harris and David Guetta may not necessarily sing and rap in songs but they are able to help in producing and creating beats while making the collaboration of different artists in any given song mesh together. This has brought a newfound appreciation to the art of the DJ and now the Fresh Prince of Belair and his Baltimore-bred wife are teaming up with “The X-Factor” British mogul to find the next big DJ, here are more details:

Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment partner with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment on the development and launch of a live, new international TV format to find the world’s greatest DJs.

This new format has already been developed and will be co-produced by Syco and Overbrook. The show will capture the incredible rise of the DJ phenomena. It has been in development for over a year and Syco, OE and Sony Pictures Television will soon announce their broadcast partners in both the US and the UK.

Simon Cowell said: “We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.”

“This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent,” said Jada Pinkett-Smith, “I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family.

Are YOU the next DJ X-Factor? Better starting practicing a little extra on Virtual DJ, lol.
